Description / Expertise
D291. A rare two train ivy leaf skeleton clock which may safely be attributed to Smiths of Clerkenwell ( see figures 3/45ab of British Skeleton Clocks by Derek Roberts.). It is rare in that although being only a two train clock it still strikes the first three quarters on two gongs and the hour on one.
It is of substantial construction but has fine wheel-work, each with five very delicately executed crossings. The pendulum, with brass rod, has a heavy brass faced lead bob.
The replacement rosewood base together with brass framed glazed cover display it excellently.
Ht with/without cover. 18.5"/ 13.5" (47/34.5cms.). £6,750
