D310. A good quality full size corniche cased carriage clock striking and repeating on a gong. It is believed that the highly decorative Japanese style ( Imari) panels would have been made by Spode towards the end of the 19th century specially for this clock; however although we have not seen another example before it may have been one of a small batch. Two of the panels are numbered 70 and the other two may also be similarly numbered but we have not dismantled the clock to check this. £6,650
The dial has a white chapter ring with inner and outer gilded lines and roman numerals. The decoration is in the form of floral and other designs in reds, green, blue and gold. Both side panels use dark blue as a back-ground colour for the gilt foliate and other decoration, which is in red. The red, dark blue and green floral decoration and fence seen on the back door, are set off by a white background.
