Description / Expertise
D267. Auguste à Paris. A finely engraved carriage clock with a gilded “one piece” case
and solid back door, circa 1840. It strikes on a bell and is also signed to the bottom of the backplate Perrin à Paris. It employs a Jules platform escapement as is illustrated in Charles Allix and Peter Bomnnert’s book on carriage clocks, figs 11/43 and 11/47. It would seem that Perrin and Auguste worked together as other similar clocks are just signed Perrin. £4500
A virtually identical clock signed by Auguste is illustrated on page 75 of Carriage clocks by Derek Roberts
