D177. Purvis, North Audley Street, Grosvenor Square, (London.). A very small brass inlaid and rosewood veneered bell striking and repeating regency mantel clock.
This most attractive clock, standing just over 10" high, has a shallow arched top, glazed sides surrounded by a brass bezel and rests on rosewood bun feet. The front of the case is brass inlaid and a substantial brass bezel surrounds the arched silvered dial which employs roman numerals. Below the chapter ring is a plaque signed Purvis, North Audley Street, Gros’r Sqr.
Around this is decorative floral engraving.
The substantial movement, virtually filling the case, has shaped plates with floral engraving to the border and on the pendulum bob. A pendulum clamp is provided which is partially concealed by the bell as is Purvis’s signature.
Height 10.2" (25cms.) £6,500.
