Description / Expertise
D292. A rare and early two train chain fusee English skeleton clock which is signed on the gilded dial, which has five elaborate crossings to the centre, Dwerrihouse, Ogsden and Bell, which would date it quite closely as they were only in partnership from 1832- 1835, right at the beginning of skeleton clock manufacture in England.
An attractive feature of some of the early skeleton clocks such as this one is that the strike-work is concealed within the base, the connection to this being achieved by a steel rod passing down through one of the brass columns on which the clock rests. The beautifully executed wheel-work all has five crossings.
Height with/without dome 19"/16" (48.2/ 45 cms ). £8,650.
