Description / Expertise
O/S 17. James McCabe, Royal Exchange, London No 2811. Circa 1840.
A small and rare 8 day wall clock, one of a small series made by this eminent maker, contained in a turned solid mahogany case. It has a 6" circular engraved and silvered dial which is signed and numbered by the maker, as is the backplate of the movement. It employs a chain fusee and plain balance wheel, as was often favoured by this maker.
Overall diameter 8.5" (21.6cms.) £3,500.
