D284. A particularly fine miniature porcelain panelled carriage timepiece numbered on the backplate619.It has beautifully executed fluted columns with corinthian capitals and was probably produced for export to the Far East.
The panels have that attractive feature of scenes within scenes. The dial, which has black roman numerals set on a gilded chapter-ring, has floral decoration to the centre. To the top right are birds and to the top left other features. A shaped panel with gilded birds to the bottom right, depicts a lakeside scene. One side panel, which has a cream back-ground, shows a bird and floral decoration whilst a plaque, set in the centre, shows a woodland scene and a lake. On the other side panel, rendered in blue, is another lakeside view.
