Description / Expertise
D290. Richard (CA et Cie.) Circa 1880. This good quality corniche cased carriage clock, a little smaller than standard, bears Richard’s stamp to the bottom left of the backplate and is numbered 284. It strikes the hours and halves on a gong.
It has three charming porcelain panels decorated with pastoral scenes. The dial, which has a white chapter ring with roman numerals and inner and outer gold rings, depicts cattle beneath a tree and alongside a river with a boat and a small castle in the back-ground. One side panel shows cattle standing and drinking in a river with a water-wheel and trees in the back-ground. On the other side panel are three cows with a farm.
Height with/without handle:- 5.5"/4.5" (14.2/11.3cm)
