Description / Expertise
D110. An exquisite sub-miniature Swiss silver and guilloche enamel carriage clock with a 14 jewel 8 day movement having gilded plates and a lever escapement by the Zenith watch Company No 161857. Circa 1920.
The rectangular case rests on bun feet and has a silver carrying handle. The base is inscribed No 5898 Argent 0.925 Sterling silver. The solid back door has a decorative plaque on it , the centre reading HER and to either side are the initials M and H, presumably those of the first owner.
All the edges of the case are protected by a narrow band of silver. The delicately engine turned front and top are overlaid with a silver-grey enamel bearing flowers whilst the sides are similarly decorated but also have oval plaques incorporating pictures of young ladies. The circular white enamelled dial has arabic numerals and gilt dots for the minutes.
