Description / Expertise
LEPINE a PARIS. This particularly fine carriage clock, circa 1845-50, has been made to the highest possible standards. The whole case, including the mask and the three enamelled dials, is beautifully engraved and gilded.It is signed on the dial and backplate, Lepine, Paris and the backplate has fine floral engraving to the border.
The clock strikes and repeats on a bell and is also provided with subsidiary dials for the alarm and date. The back door is glazed.
The fine platform for the clock is signed, T. Martin & Co, 151 Regent Street, London, who specialised in escapements for carriage clocks.
