D275. A fine mid 19th century two day marine chronometer by Charles Frodsham, 84 Strand, London. No. 2614.
The three tier brass bound rosewood box is in a good state of preservation. There are “stop” handles to either side; brass strap-work to the lower two tiers and brass corner pieces to the top lid. There is a round ivory plaque on the front numbered 2614.
The dial has gold hands and the usual up/down indication 0-56.It is signed Charles Frodsham, 84 Strand, No 2614. The movement has a spring detent. According to the previous owner it was serviced some 12 months ago and is currently keeping time to about one and a half seconds a day.
