Description / Expertise
D357. This clock is a fine and relatively early (1865-1870) example of the gorge case, a style that was usually reserved for the best clocks. It is somewhat taller and more elegant than the later examples and is beautifully engraved all over.
The white enamelled dial, with delicate roman numerals, Breguet style hands and an alarm dial below, are by a finely decorated gilded mask. The movement strikes and repeats the hours on a bell and is numbered to the bottom left corner of the back-plate 339.
Height with/without handle. 7"/5.5" (18/14cm)
